PRIVATELY GUIDED SAFARIS, BUILT AROUND ACCESS, INSIGHT & TIME IN THE WILD

PRIVATE SAFARIS FOR FAMILIES

Across Kenya

These journeys move through Kenya’s most remarkable landscapes at a pace that feels natural for families. With private guiding, flexible days and thoughtful planning behind the scenes, there is space for both adventure and downtime, for curiosity, connection and shared moments that stay with you long after you leave.

Travelling as a Family Changes Everything

Like elephants moving together, with the young at the heart of the herd. It shifts what matters. The journey becomes less about covering ground, and more about how it feels to experience it together.

With two children growing up in the bush, this is something we understand first-hand. Each safari is shaped with care and thought, so children are drawn into the experience, and parents can relax, knowing everything is quietly taken care of.

Private Space

Stay in private houses, lodges or your own mobile camp, with no shared spaces and the freedom to settle into your own rhythm.

It allows days to unfold easily, with the flexibility to move at your own pace and spend time together without interruption.

Wild Learning

With a private guide throughout, the experience builds naturally day by day.

For younger children, this might mean bush walks, tracks and “bush school” moments around camp. For older children and teenagers, time in the wild brings a deeper understanding, shaped by guiding, conservation and life on the ground.

Real Connection

Through our long-standing partnership with Ker & Downey Safaris, you are able to camp in some of Kenya’s most exclusive and privately accessed locations.

Set up in quiet corners of the Mara or within private conservancies, you experience these landscapes with a level of access few others can offer.

Thoughtful Support

From guides to camp teams, you’re surrounded by people who instinctively understand how to engage children, while giving parents the space to relax.

Whether exploring together or with children spending time alongside trusted guides, everything is handled with care, so the experience feels easy from the start.

What Stays

Time in the wild stays with children.

For younger ones, it’s curiosity and discovery.

For older children and teenagers, it often becomes something deeper, a shift in perspective that lasts long after they return home.

KER & DOWNEY

Since 2020, Everwild Africa has partnered with Ker & Downey Safaris, pioneers of the photographic safari and long recognised for shaping the art of mobile camping in East Africa.

Through this partnership, we are able to access private conservancies and remote sites that are simply not available to most travellers, allowing a safari like this to move freely and stay in places others can’t.

Decades of relationships with landowners, conservancies and communities across Kenya underpin this access, making a mobile safari not just possible, but exceptional.

We carry this approach forward in how we design and host each journey, with a focus on discretion, craftsmanship and a deep respect for both wilderness and community.

NOTES FROM THE WILD

  • “It was an incredibly special and magical experience for our entire family. From the luxurious accommodations amidst a truly spectacular setting at Lengishu to the "romance" of our tented camp in Amboseli where we were attended to by a wonderful, friendly staff and spoiled with unforgettable meals by our star guest chef!”

    — Stuart

  • “The trip organized by Hannah and Finlay was exceptionally well-planned, allowing us to fully absorb the magic of Africa without worrying about any details. Thanks to this professional, friendly, and beautiful couple, we had a once-in-a-lifetime journey—one that deeply inspired me as an artist (Bela Silva) for my next exhibit in London 2025, and that also gave my son the chance to connect with his ancient roots.”

    — Bela

  • “The most memorable moments for our whole family were certainly the immersive cultural experiences of the Maasai Olympics, delivering presents to the Maasai children on Christmas day and dancing among the tribesmen!”

    — Donielle

FAMILY

SAFARI

Q&A

  • Very much so. Kenya is one of the most rewarding places in Africa to travel as a family, with space, wildlife, and experiences that naturally engage children. We design each safari around your children’s ages — whether younger kids or teenagers — adjusting pace, activities, and properties so the journey feels right for everyone.

  • Days are thoughtfully shaped to hold their attention, with shorter game drives and time outside the vehicle. Beyond wildlife, there are moments of connection and discovery — meeting local communities, learning tracking, or simply having space to explore and be present in nature.

  • Yes. A key part of the experience is creating space for parents to switch off. We work with places where children are genuinely welcomed and naturally included by guides and staff, so you don’t need to manage every moment — you can simply enjoy being there.

  • Most journeys are 9–12 nights, combining private mobile camps with a small number of carefully chosen lodges or houses. We favour fewer moves and more time in each place, allowing the experience to deepen rather than rush.

  • We only work with trusted areas and partners, with clear briefings and support on the ground, so everything feels calm and well-managed. Alongside game drives, families often enjoy walking, cultural visits, swimming, and time by the beach — some of the most memorable moments happen outside the vehicle. We recommend booking 6–12 months in advance, especially for school holidays when the best family-friendly properties are in high demand.

  • Costs vary depending on the level of guiding, properties, and logistics, but as a guide, safaris tend to start from around USD 2,000 per person per night.

For families, pricing is shaped by the ages of your children, as each property has its own age brackets and rates (often under 5, 5–12, and teenagers). We factor this into every itinerary, recommending properties that are not only well-suited to your family, but also offer the best overall value — whether through family rooms, private houses, or exclusive-use options.

If you’re considering travelling as a family, the best place to start is a conversation.

We’ll talk through ages, timing, what you’re hoping for, and shape something that genuinely works for all of you. From there, we design a journey that feels effortless from start to finish.
