PRIVATELY GUIDED SAFARIS, BUILT AROUND ACCESS, INSIGHT & TIME IN THE WILD

FAMILY MOBILE SAFARIS

Across Kenya

Our Family Mobile Safaris are private journeys designed around your family, moving through Kenya’s most remote and wildlife-rich landscapes. Days unfold at a gentle, flexible pace, with every detail thoughtfully considered – creating space for curiosity, connection, and shared discovery.

Safari means “journey” in Kiswahili – and for families, it becomes a shared adventure.

Safari is a chance to step out of routine and into a world shaped by nature and long-standing cultures. Across Kenya’s landscapes, families find space to slow down, reconnect, and share moments that feel meaningful and lasting.

There is something deeper in this experience – children witness wildlife, landscapes, and traditions that carry living memory, while time together becomes more present and fulfilling.

At the heart of the journey is mobile camping – a private and immersive way of travelling, with camps set in remarkable locations at the right moment.

In partnership with Ker & Downey, pioneers of mobile safaris for over 80 years, these journeys are shaped by deep knowledge and long-standing relationships – opening access to places few experience, with the ease of complete privacy and a setting that feels both engaging and safe for families.

We invite you to experience this extraordinary journey with us.

Welcome to a different way of travelling
across Kenya.

There are moments on safari that stay with you forever – watching elephants move across open plains, sitting in stillness as a sighting unfolds, waking up in places far from everyday life. These experiences unfold through deep understanding of the land, its rhythms, and the right approach from beginning to the end.

Local Knowledge & Guidance

Everwild Africa is a Kenya-based, family-run safari company, built from a life spent exploring and living in these landscapes.

Each safari is led by a private guide, shaping the experience day by day with instinct, care, and deep local knowledge. We take on a limited number of safaris each year, allowing us to remain closely involved in every journey we create.

Heritage & Rare Access

As partners of Ker & Downey, we carry a heritage of safari pioneers since 1946, reimagined through our own years working in the bush.

Through long-standing relationships with landowners, elders, and conservation leaders, we access some of Kenya’s most pristine and privately held wilderness areas – including conservancies and seasonal camps that are not widely reached.

Impact & Conservation

Our love story is Africa – the wildlife, cultures, and people who call this continent home. We share places that keep this spirit alive: remote, remarkable, and wild.

Supporting conservation, land protection, and the livelihoods of those who have lived here for generations remains at the heart of everything we do. Your safari directly contributes to these efforts.

Travelling with a family changes everything –

Like elephants moving together, holding the young at the heart of the herd.

It becomes about how the journey feels: children engaged and at ease and the pace flowing naturally, allowing parents to enjoy the journey too.

With two children growing up in the bush, this is something we understand first-hand. Our safaris are designed with the right balance of flexibility, care, and space – so children are absorbed in the experience, and parents can relax knowing everything is thoughtfully in place.

Private Houses & Lodges

Space to be yourselves – private houses and camps mean no shared spaces or fixed schedules. Everything is shaped around your family.

We choose smaller, independent properties where guiding and atmosphere come first, creating stays that feel intimate, flexible, and connected to the wild.

Mobile Camping & Wildlife

At the heart of the experience, private mobile camps offer a deeply immersive way to travel. Your camp is set up exclusively for you, thoughtfully placed as your journey unfolds – following wildlife, seasons, and the landscapes we know best.

For children, it becomes a gentle way to experience wildlife up close – learning the land through presence, curiosity, and everyday wonder.

Flexible Experiences

When designing your family adventure we favor the right balance – game drives, walking, riding, cultural experiences, and time at the house to simply pause and reconnect with your loved ones.

Flexibility is build in – days can shift depending on energy and mood. Start later, head back early, or change plans entirely – what ever feels right to you.

A Guiding Team That Understands Families

From guides to camp teams, you’re surrounded by people who know how to engage children naturally, while giving parents space to relax.

We can arrange everything in advance through Safari Sitters – including car seats, cots, high chairs, nappies, formula, and travelling nannies who are first aid trained.

On the ground, guides and camp teams are exceptional with children. They instinctively include them – whether it’s birdwatching around camp, following tracks, or small moments that make them feel part of the experience.

And when needed, guides can take children off for activities, giving parents time to relax, knowing they are in safe and experienced hands.

It’s these details that shape how the journey feels day to day.

Mobile camping – a safari under canvas.

Experience the magic of Kenya’s wild heart like never before. At Everwild Africa, we invite you to immerse yourself in the ultimate safari – an intimate and exhilarating adventure set deep in the heart of nature. Imagine a private camp just for you, under a vast African sky, where the only sounds at night are the whisper of the breeze and the distant call of a lion. This is safari as it was meant to be: untamed, immersive, and deeply personal.

Mobile Camping is an experience, a journey, a love affair with the African wilderness. It offers the perfect balance of raw adventure and refined comfort, with the freedom to explore, relax, and connect with nature on your terms. A private camp set in Kenya’s most iconic conservation areas, creating a luxurious and intimate base during peak wildlife viewing periods.

Since 2020, Everwild Africa has partnered with Ker & Downey Safaris – pioneers of the photographic safari and one of Africa’s longest-running outfitters, with over 80 years of experience. Founded in 1946 by Donald Ker and Syd Downey, they helped shape the earliest safaris in Kenya, with work that ranged from leading pioneering journeys to supporting iconic films such as The Macomber Affair and Out of Africa. Over the decades, they have hosted notable figures from Grace Kelly, and John Wayne to National Geographic filmmakers.

They pioneered private tented camps in Kenya and continue to hold some of the longest-standing relationships across conservancies and communities. Their approach is defined by deep knowledge, discretion, and a lasting respect for both land and people.

FAMILY

SAFARI

Q&A

  • Very much so. Kenya is one of the most rewarding places in Africa to travel as a family, with space, wildlife, and experiences that naturally engage children. We design each safari around your children’s ages — whether younger kids or teenagers — adjusting pace, activities, and properties so the journey feels right for everyone.

  • Days are thoughtfully shaped to hold their attention, with shorter game drives and time outside the vehicle. Beyond wildlife, there are moments of connection and discovery — meeting local communities, learning tracking, or simply having space to explore and be present in nature.

  • Yes. A key part of the experience is creating space for parents to switch off. We work with places where children are genuinely welcomed and naturally included by guides and staff, so you don’t need to manage every moment — you can simply enjoy being there.

  • Most journeys are 9–12 nights, combining private mobile camps with a small number of carefully chosen lodges or houses. We favour fewer moves and more time in each place, allowing the experience to deepen rather than rush.

  • We only work with trusted areas and partners, with clear briefings and support on the ground, so everything feels calm and well-managed. Alongside game drives, families often enjoy walking, cultural visits, swimming, and time by the beach — some of the most memorable moments happen outside the vehicle. We recommend booking 6–12 months in advance, especially for school holidays when the best family-friendly properties are in high demand.

  • Costs vary depending on the level of guiding, properties, and logistics, but as a guide, safaris tend to start from around USD 2,000 per person per night.

For families, pricing is shaped by the ages of your children, as each property has its own age brackets and rates (often under 5, 5–12, and teenagers). We factor this into every itinerary, recommending properties that are not only well-suited to your family, but also offer the best overall value — whether through family rooms, private houses, or exclusive-use options.

Begin Your Family Journey

If you’re considering travelling as a family, the best place to start is a conversation.

We’ll talk through ages, timing, what you’re hoping for, and shape something that genuinely works for all of you.

From there, we design a journey that feels effortless from start to finish.
