Each safari is led by a private guide, shaping the experience day by day with instinct, care, and deep local knowledge. We take on a limited number of safaris each year, allowing us to remain closely involved in every journey we create.

As partners of Ker & Downey, we carry a heritage of safari pioneers since 1946, reimagined through our own years working in the bush.

Through long-standing relationships with landowners, elders, and conservation leaders, we access some of Kenya’s most pristine and privately held wilderness areas – including conservancies and seasonal camps that are not widely reached.

Boutique lodges by the river or beautifully designed coastal villas bring comfort and a strong sense of space. We favor smaller, independently run properties where guiding, location, and atmosphere come first. Each stay is considered, intimate, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Since 2020, Everwild Africa has partnered with Ker & Downey Safaris – pioneers of the photographic safari since 1946, with over 80 years of shaping mobile safaris. Founded by Donald Ker and Syd Downey, their legacy spans early expeditions, iconic films outfitters such as Out of Africa, and decades of hosting notable figures from Grace Kelly and John Wayne and National Georgaphic filmmakers.

Ker & Downey pioneered the concept of private tented camps in Kenya and maintain some of the longest-standing relationships with landowners, conservancies, and tribal leaders across the region. And we carry their approach defined by discretion, craftsmanship, and a profound respect for both wilderness and community.

CAMPING

When and Where: During the high season (June to September) and over the Christmas period, we establish exclusive Seasonal Camps in the Maasai Mara and Amboseli.
Availability: Throughout the year at any of our exclusive camping sites.
Adventure: These dynamic camps move with you, following the rhythm of the wilderness and granting you access to Kenya’s most remote and untouched corners. Your private mobile camp is set up in a remote, handpicked location just before your arrival and disappears without a trace when you depart, allowing you to enjoy a safari that evolves daily. Track seasonal wildlife movements and explore hidden landscapes, all while retaining the comfort and personal touch of a K&D camp.
Comfort in the Wild: Each spacious canvas tent is designed for both comfort and charm, featuring plush double or twin beds, soft feather duvets, handcrafted rugs, and a private verandah. En-suite bathrooms provide a piping hot safari shower and flushing loo—ensuring that adventure never means sacrificing comfort.
Diverse Activities: As the sun sets, gather around the campfire to recount the day’s adventures. Whether you’re embarking on private vehicle game drives, guided bush walks, night game drives, or scenic helicopter flights, your mobile camp serves as the perfect base to truly immerse yourself in the wilderness.
Bush Dining: At the heart of your mobile camp is our beautifully laid-out mess tent, where talented chefs prepare multi-course feasts using the freshest local ingredients. Hannah oversees the menu design, tailoring to each of the groups preferences, ensuring each dish is perfectly paired with the finest wines and accommodating any dietary needs or allergies. Enjoy every meal as a moment to savour, whether it’s a long, leisurely lunch under a shady tree or a candlelit dinner beneath a starry sky.

Nairobi

Hamilton House

Arrive into Nairobi where you are met and transferred to a private home in Karen.

Hamilton House is a calm and elegant start - a place to pause after travel, settle in, and begin to shift into the rhythm of the safari.

Dinner is relaxed, the gardens are quiet, and the pace is intentionally slow.

For a deeper connection to the land

Laikipia shifts everything.Here, the experience opens up - riding across wide landscapes, walking with guides, spending time with rangers who protect this land, and understanding what it takes to keep it wild.

You stay in a private house, giving you space to breathe, to reset, to take it in at your own pace. And while you’re here, something quietly happens in the background. The camp moves.

Your crew packs everything down and travels ahead, setting up your next camp in Amboseli, ready for your arrival.

Journeys of this nature typically start from
USD 2,500 per person, per night

This reflects a privately guided safari, designed and run entirely around you - not a set departure or shared experience.

It includes everything required to move seamlessly through the journey:

Your private mobile camps, fully staffed and set exclusively for you
A highly experienced guide throughout
All meals and drinks, from early morning coffee to evenings by the fire
Internal flights and transfers between each location
The full crew and logistics team working behind the scenes, including moving camp ahead of you as the journey unfolds

What it doesn’t include are international flights, travel insurance, and a small number of additional activities depending on your preferences.

Each safari is tailored, so the final investment will vary depending on season, group size, and how you choose to travel.

Every safari begins with a conversation. We take time to understand how you like to travel, what draws you to Africa, and the pace that feels right for you. From there, we design a journey that is entirely considered and deeply personal. We live here, travel constantly, and often guide safaris ourselves — which means every decision is shaped by real, lived experience rather than a fixed itinerary.
There is no single “best” season — we guide you based on wildlife movements, landscapes, and the kind of experience you want to have. Safaris can include mobile camping in remote locations, walking, riding, or helicopter access to more off-grid and secluded areas, with many of the most meaningful moments happening off the vehicle.
Most journeys are 9–12 nights, combining private mobile camps with a small number of carefully chosen lodges or houses. We deliberately limit the number of moves, allowing more time in each place so the experience can unfold naturally and deepen rather than rush.
Entirely private. You travel with your own guide, at your own pace, without shared vehicles or fixed schedules. Each journey is shaped around you, allowing space for spontaneity, presence, and a deeper connection to the landscape.
You will always travel with a highly experienced private guide, and whenever possible, Finlay will guide the journey himself. We design every detail — from timing and logistics to property selection — to ensure the experience feels seamless. We recommend booking 6–12 months in advance for the best availability.
