PRIVATELY GUIDED BESPOKE SAFARIS

WHO WE ARE

Our love story is Africa, the wilderness, the wildlife, the culture, people and history. It is our home. We only share places we love. Off the beaten track. Unique, refined, expertly led.

THE

STORY

Everwild Africa is our family-run safari company, rooted in a deep love for the wild places of this continent. After years living and working in the bush – managing camps and guiding guests across some of Africa’s most spectacular landscapes – we created Everwild to share the kind of safari that changed our lives.

Our journey began in 2013, managing a lodge in central Kenya, before we moved to the legendary Maasai Mara. There, we fell in step with the rhythm of the wild – learning how to create safaris that balance raw adventure with quiet comfort, simplicity with beauty.

Today, we live in Nairobi with our daughter, surrounded by the landscapes and wildlife that inspire us daily. We design each journey with care, drawing on years of experience and deep local knowledge to craft safaris that feel personal, immersive, and unforgettable.

At the heart of Everwild is human connection – to nature, to one another, and to the places that move us. Our safaris aren’t just about seeing wildlife. They’re about rewilding your spirit, deepening your sense of wonder, and falling in love with Africa – for the first time or all over again.

Finlay Marrian

Guide, Photographer, Explorer

I was born and raised in Nairobi, on the edge of Nairobi National Park, where nothing but the Mbagathi River separated my childhood home from the wildlife. My father, landscape artist David Marrian, had a studio that opened to the park, so my love for the wild was ingrained from the very start.

Growing up, I fine-tuned my wildlife spotting skills on the school run and countless adventures across East Africa. After finishing school in the UK and working in hospitality in Verbier, I felt the pull of the African bush too strongly to ignore. In 2013, I returned to Kenya, persuaded Hannah to join me, and we threw ourselves into the safari world—managing Borana Lodge in Central Kenya and Richard’s Camp in the Maasai Mara.

I completed my professional guiding course and have been privately guiding safaris ever since, combining my love of wildlife, photography, and storytelling. My goal is to ensure every guest leaves with unforgettable memories, a deeper connection to nature, and a few incredible photos!

Hannah Marrian

Host, Curator, Foodie

Born in the USA to British and Chilean parents, I spent most of my childhood in the Cotswolds, England, where I discovered my love for food and hospitality. At 18, I trained at a cookery school before heading to the Alps, where I spent several years running luxury chalets and cooking for guests across Europe.

Along the way, I developed a passion for aesthetics and design, which led me to study interior design in Chelsea, London. It was there that I fell in love with textiles, colour, and the details that make a place feel special.

Then, on a chairlift in Verbier, I met Finlay. His stories of Kenya’s wild beauty captured my imagination, and soon, I was on a plane. Once in Africa, I fell in love—not just with the landscapes and wildlife, but with the entire safari experience.

Now, I curate and host our mobile safaris, blending my background in hospitality and design to create journeys that immerse guests in the wilderness while offering thoughtful touches of comfort and elegance. I’ve decorated our mobile camp with an eclectic mix of textiles from West Africa, handspun Kenyan cottons, and antique artefacts, alongside coffee table books that celebrate Africa in all her forms—from art and design to surfing. Every detail is carefully chosen to create a space that feels both personal and deeply connected to the continent we call home.

Charles Koskei

Charles brings warmth, wisdom, and nearly a decade of experience in the safari world to everything he does. He’s worked with some of East Africa’s most respected safari companies, honing his skills in crafting seamless, personalised journeys that celebrate the wild beauty of this region.

Charles joined us in 2021, and from day one, he’s been the calm and capable force behind so much of our day-to-day – coordinating logistics, confirming bookings, and always going the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly. He’s a true expert at navigating the moving parts of a safari, from private charters and lodge stays to those special touches that make a trip unforgettable.

What sets Charles apart is his attention to detail and his thoughtful, considered approach. Whether he’s helping plan a family’s first visit to Kenya or fine-tuning a return guest’s itinerary, he takes pride in creating travel experiences that feel effortless, personal, and deeply connected to place.

When he’s not juggling itineraries, you’ll find Charles spending time with his young son, Taru and wife Edna in Samburu or escaping to the bush with friends whenever he can.

In 2020, Finlay was invited to join Ker & Downey as an associate guide and has since become a partner. With over 70 years of expertise in mobile safaris, they pioneered the concept of private tented camps in Kenya, forming the longest-standing connections with landowners, conservancies, and tribal leaders.

As partners, we have access to their state-of-the-art mobile camping equipment and exclusive sites, allowing us to offer seamless expeditions for groups of up to 50+ guests while maintaining the same level of service, privacy, and authenticity as on our classic safaris.

A Legacy of Safari Excellence – The History of K&D

Like many great ventures, Ker & Downey Safaris was born from a chance encounter.

In 1941, Donald Ker and Syd Downey, two big-game hunters turned conservationists, had just fought with the British army in Ethiopia. Shortly after the fall of Addis Ababa, Syd was celebrating his release from an Italian prison when he ran into Donald. Over drinks, they hatched a plan to build "the best safari company the world has ever known."

Their first safari, in 1946, was running a camp for The Macomber Affair, a Hollywood film starring Gregory Peck. The film’s success launched a business that would see Ker & Downey hosting, managing, and even acting in some of the most iconic films ever made—from King Solomon’s Mines to Out of Africa, Cry Freedom, and Gorillas in the Mist.

Over the decades, K&D has hosted some of the world’s greatest explorers, actors, and conservationists—from Grace Kelly and John Wayne to National Geographic filmmakers and African wildlife pioneers.

From building camps for 3,000 people to pioneering private safaris, their legacy is one of adventure, exploration, and setting the gold standard in mobile safaris.

Today, we are proud to carry forward this tradition, offering the most exclusive, tailor-made safaris across Africa—guided by experience, driven by passion, and always rooted in conservation and sustainability.
